Competing on a new track for charging infrastructure construction, this province releases its latest report card

As of the end of the third quarter of 2023, the total number of new energy vehicles in the province was 1.659 million, a year-on-year increase of 47.41%. At the same time, charging infrastructure has achieved rapid growth... Recently, amidst the wave of competition in charging infrastructure construction in multiple regions, the "White Paper on the Development of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in Shandong Province" (hereinafter referred to as the "White Paper") was released, revealing the latest report card of charging infrastructure construction in Shandong Province.

Rapid development of charging facilities


According to the White Paper, the top six cities in terms of the number of new energy vehicles in the province are: Qingdao with 272500 vehicles, Jinan with 192200 vehicles, Linyi with 174000 vehicles, Jining with 171000 vehicles, Heze with 129300 vehicles, and Weifang with 123700 vehicles.


At the same time, the charging infrastructure in the province is showing a rapid development trend.


In terms of charging station construction, as of the end of September 2023, there are a total of 9505 public charging stations in the province, a year-on-year increase of 60.94%. The top 5 cities in terms of the number of public charging stations are Qingdao with 1541, Jining with 990, Linyi with 974, Jinan with 890, and Yantai with 796.


In terms of charging pile construction, during the same period, a total of 429600 charging piles were built in the province, a year-on-year increase of 152.7%. Among them, there are 102300 public charging stations and 327300 residential charging stations. The top 5 cities in terms of the number of charging stations are as follows: Qingdao, ranked first with 82500 units, Jinan, ranked second with 65400 units, Jining, ranked third with 43900 units, Linyi, ranked fourth with 40800 units, and Weifang, ranked fifth with 27300 units.


As of the end of September 2023, a total of 79800 public charging piles have been connected to the Shandong Province Charging Infrastructure Information Public Service Platform in terms of charging capacity indicators. From January to September 2023, the cumulative charging capacity reached 1.213 billion kilowatt hours. Among them, there are 885 million kilowatt hours of DC charging piles and 328 million kilowatt hours of AC charging piles. The top 5 cities in terms of cumulative charging capacity throughout the year are as follows: Qingdao, ranked first with 231.51 million kilowatt hours, Jinan, ranked second with 204.87 million kilowatt hours, Jining, ranked third with 1101.1 million kilowatt hours, Linyi, ranked fourth with 89.87 million kilowatt hours, and Yantai, ranked fifth with 73.57 million kilowatt hours.


Market activity and service improvement


The White Paper indicates that the operation of charging infrastructure in Shandong Province continues to improve.


From January to September 2023, the average online rate of public charging stations connected to provincial-level platforms in the province was 83.43%. The top five cities were ranked as follows: Tai'an City with 91.28%, Linyi City with 91.11%, Weihai City with 87.88%, Zaozhuang City with 87.48%, and Yantai City with 87.44%.


At the same time, the charging market in the province is becoming increasingly active and the service quality is constantly improving.


As of the end of September 2023, the number of platform operators accessing the Shandong Province Charging Infrastructure Information Public Service Platform has reached 72, a year-on-year increase of 41.18%. The top 5 operators in terms of the number of charging stations are: Special Electric with 39937 units, State Grid Electric with 17850 units, Star Charging with 2855 units, Cloud Fast Charging with 2833 units, and Haihuide with 1875 units.


As of the end of September 2023, there are 150 five-star charging stations in the province. The cities with the highest number of five-star charging stations are: Qingdao with 50, Jinan with 20, Weifang with 20, Linyi with 20, Zibo with 10, and Yantai with 10. The top 5 operators in terms of the number of five-star charging stations are as follows: 54 for Special Electric, 45 for State Grid Electric, 33 for Star Charging, 7 for Putian, and 4 for Yunkuai Charging.
